Poland rules out supplying Patriot missiles to Ukraine
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has stated that Poland cannot provide Ukraine with Patriot interceptor missiles due to limited domestic resources. Sikorski noted that while other NATO allies possess the necessary equipment to contribute, Poland currently lacks the surplus required for such a transfer.
Sikorski highlighted that the shortage of interceptor missiles has intensified following military actions involving the US, Israel, and Iran, which have placed additional strain on Western ammunition stocks. He warned that Russia is currently producing missiles at a rate exceeding the capacity of Ukraine and its allies to neutralize them with available effectors.
While Poland remains a significant supporter of Ukraine and a critical hub for Western arms shipments, the country is facing challenges in replenishing its own arsenal. This comes as Poland continues to rapidly militarize, with defense spending reaching 4.7% of its GDP.
