Poland: Safety concerns rise ahead of Halloween

As Halloween approaches, parents in Poland are expressing significant concerns regarding the safety of children participating in trick-or-treating. Fears center on the potential for harmful objects, such as razor blades, needles, or metal fragments, to be hidden inside candies—a phenomenon linked to dangerous social media trends in previous years. Police have previously advised guardians to thoroughly inspect all sweets collected by children before consumption.

In addition to food safety, the presence of graphic decorations has sparked public debate. In Iława, an inflatable decoration featuring a figure with a knife and blood-like stains placed outside a children's play center caused local alarm. This follows a broader trend where retailers like Smyk and Biedronka have withdrawn certain products, such as plastic knives and drastic themed accessories, in response to heightened sensitivities regarding mental health and recent school tragedies.
