Karwia beach discovery identified as Polish military drone wreckage

Authorities in Poland have identified a mysterious object found on a beach in Karwia as the remains of a Polish military drone. Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz clarified that the object was a result of recent military exercises at a training ground in Ustka, where the drone was shot down using anti-drone systems. The sea washed the wreckage ashore several weeks after the incident.

The discovery on Tuesday evening triggered a high-level response involving the Military Gendarmerie, the prosecutor's office, the Internal Security Agency (ABW), and the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW). Specialized units, including counter-terrorism police and sappers, secured the area to investigate potential biological, chemical, radiological, or explosive threats.

Preliminary investigations by the Military Gendarmerie have ruled out immediate threats from explosives, chemicals, or radiation. The wreckage, measuring approximately two meters in length, was partially buried in the sand when found by a passerby. The Military Gendarmerie, under the supervision of the Military Division of the District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk, continues to examine the technical and electronic components of the object to confirm its origin and exact nature.
