Poland secures eight medals at European Athletics Championships

Poland concluded the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham with a total of eight medals, including six silver and two bronze. While the team finished 18th in the medal standings, they secured 7th place in the points classification. PZLA President Sebastian Chmara described the performance as successful, noting that the team was very close to several gold medals.

Sprinter Ewa Swoboda earned a silver medal in the 100m with a time of 11.02 seconds and a bronze in the 4x100m relay. Swoboda expressed that the individual silver was a significant personal milestone, helping her regain confidence in her professional career.

Pia Skrzyszowska narrowly missed gold in the 100m hurdles by 0.001 seconds and also secured a bronze in the 4x100m relay. Following her performance, Skrzyszowska was elected to the European Athletics Athletes' Commission for the 2026-2030 term, where she aims to represent athlete welfare and safety.

Other notable results included Klaudia Kazimierska winning silver and Wiktoria Gajosz contributing to the 4x100m relay bronze medal.
