Poland and US sign $4 billion military financing agreement

Poland and the United States have signed a strategic agreement under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program, providing $4 billion in credit guarantees to support the purchase of American military equipment. This marks the sixth such agreement between the two nations, bringing the total value of financial cooperation under this mechanism to nearly $20 billion. The funding is intended to facilitate the ongoing technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces, including the acquisition of systems such as F-35 aircraft, Abrams tanks, and Patriot missile defense systems.

In separate domestic developments, the European Investment Bank (EIB) has committed 85 million PLN to the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) to develop advanced scientific infrastructure, including the MARIA neutron laboratory. Additionally, the Polish Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) is providing financial support to energy and defense sectors, including a potential 300 million PLN loan for PGE Dystrybucja to secure critical energy infrastructure and 1.8 billion PLN for companies within the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ).

Infrastructure projects also received significant funding, with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) securing EU funds through the FEnIKS program. These investments include over 2 billion PLN for the S19 expressway as part of the Via Carpatia route and nearly 700 million PLN for the S11 expressway, aimed at improving transport connectivity and regional logistics.
