Poland seeks EU approval for agricultural insurance subsidies
The Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is currently in discussions with the European Commission regarding the notification of regulations for agricultural insurance subsidies. The ministry stated that funds for these premium subsidies are fully secured within the state budget.
While insurers have already begun preparing new product offerings based on the updated legal framework, a formal decision from the European Commission is required to provide legal certainty. This decision ensures that both farmers and insurers are protected from potential requirements to repay subsidies in the future. The ministry is maintaining active dialogue with the insurance market and the Polish Insurance Chamber to ensure farmers have sufficient time to secure policies for upcoming autumn sowings.
