Poland sees record applications for Young Farmer Premium

A record number of applications has been submitted for the “Young Farmer Premium” program in Poland. Wojciech Legawiec, President of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARiMR), reported that 7,300 applications were filed this year, significantly exceeding previous years and the initially allocated budget.

The premium offers up to 300,000 PLN in non-repayable support for starting or developing a farm. Despite the budget shortfall caused by the high interest, the Minister of Agriculture has announced the reallocation of funds to ensure that all properly submitted applications are financed.

In Poland, 21% of active farmers are under the age of 41, which is notably higher than the European Union average of 12%. Officials emphasized the importance of supporting younger generations to ensure national food security and the adoption of new technologies, such as Agriculture 4.0.
