Poland rolls out accelerated ZUS payouts and 14th pension details for 2026
The Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) will accelerate the August 2026 pension payments, sending the first instalments on Friday, 31 July, to seniors whose regular payment date falls on 1 August (a Saturday). The schedule for the additional 14th pension, a yearly supplement for retirees and pensioners, has been confirmed for September 2026. The full amount equals the minimum pension after the March 2027 indexation – 1 978.49 zł gross (about 1 800.43 zł net after health and tax deductions). Full payment applies only to beneficiaries whose regular pension or rent does not exceed 2 900 zł gross; higher amounts are reduced by the “złotówka za złotówkę” rule, with a minimum payout of 50 zł gross and no payment if the reduction would bring the amount to zero.
Separately, a senior voucher programme (bon senioralny) was signed into law by President Karol Nawrocki on 17 July 2026, slated to start in the fourth quarter of 2026. The scheme allocates roughly 1 billion zł to fund in‑home care services for people aged 80 and over until the end of 2028. The government also announced the pension indexation for 2027, to be applied on 1 March 2027 based on inflation and wage growth, with the lowest pension expected to cross a key threshold.
The Ministry of Health is preparing changes to the free‑medicine reimbursement system for seniors, aiming to curb rising costs by altering the “S” prescription list. Finally, a new personal investment account law (OKI) passed in July 2024 will take effect on 1 January 2027, granting tax exemptions on investment assets up to 100 k zł and savings assets up to 25 k zł, and introducing an asset‑value tax that makes the account advantageous up to about 107 k zł compared with ordinary deposits.
