Poland signs new Energy Law to regulate industrial power markets
The President of Poland has signed an amendment to the Energy Law (project UD446) aimed at regulating energy market operations, increasing the resilience of the national power system, and improving information exchange.
Key changes impact large industrial energy consumers and producers of their own energy. The new regulations simplify settlements for paid power supply stages, allowing direct settlements between distribution system operators (OSD) and consumers to reduce administrative documentation.
To prevent sudden disruptions in energy supply, the law introduces new data transmission obligations. Entities must provide real-time, graphical, and structural data to operators to assist in system balancing and to mitigate the risk of unannounced changes in energy production or storage availability.
