Poland startup ecosystem faces scaling challenges as new platform launches in Kraków

Poland has ranked 33rd in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index Report 2026, placing 19th within Europe. While the country offers a large internal market and significant talent, experts note that Polish startups face challenges in global scaling due to limited access to late-stage financing, regulatory instability, bureaucracy, and a lack of sufficient incentives for investors.

To address ecosystem fragmentation, a new initiative called ‘Startup Kraków’ has been established. Representatives from various institutions, including the City of Kraków, Startup Poland, and the Kraków Technology Park, signed a letter of intent to create this platform. Rather than acting as a new incubator or venture capital fund, Startup Kraków aims to serve as a coordinating layer that connects existing organizations, providing founders with a unified map of resources and a shared calendar of events.
