Poland strengthens defense industry via new investment fund and industrial partnerships

Poland is strengthening its domestic defense capabilities through significant financial investment and industrial cooperation. Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) has launched a new special-purpose company named ‘Chrobry’ to support Polish defense enterprises. The initiative has 7 billion PLN allocated to invest in companies with verified technologies ready for industrial scaling.

Investment areas include air and space systems, critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity, data processing, and artificial intelligence. Projects exceeding 50 million PLN will undergo evaluation by a steering committee composed of eight ministers to ensure strategic alignment and technological sovereignty.

In the industrial sector, Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna SA (NPGM) has entered into a cooperation agreement with Polska Grupa Hutnicza (PGH). The partnership aims to increase local content in the defense supply chain by producing 250 kg NATO-standard bomb bodies, rocket bodies, and casting components for 155 mm ammunition. This collaboration is intended to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and secure domestic production capabilities.
