Poland submits final 55 billion PLN KPO payment application
Poland has submitted its ninth and final payment application under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO) to the European Commission. This final request amounts to 55 billion PLN, representing approximately 23 percent of the total program budget.
Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz announced that 100 percent of the KPO investments have been contracted. The program has reportedly contributed about 1.5 percent to Poland's GDP growth. Key achievements under the plan include the creation of 26,000 nursery places, high-speed internet connections for 261,500 households, the purchase of 1,095 zero-emission buses, and the modernization of nearly 300 kilometers of railway lines.
The total pool of funds for Poland under the KPO is approximately 233 billion PLN (54.7 billion EUR), consisting of both non-repayable grants and preferential loans. The European Commission has two months to formally verify the completed reforms and investments before the funds are transferred. The final tranche of 55 billion PLN is expected to arrive in Poland around the end of the year.
