Poland telecommunications: Idealan expands fiber network and nju mobile launches new plans

Telecommunications infrastructure and service offerings are expanding in Poland. The local operator Idealan is investing in FTTH (Fiber to the Home) infrastructure, particularly in the Sokółka region. The company's network currently covers approximately 470 towns across six counties, providing connection speeds of up to 1 Gb/s to both residential and business customers.

In the consumer market, nju mobile, a sub-brand of Orange Polska, has introduced a new fiber internet offer aimed at students and flexible users. The plan provides 600 Mb/s speeds for 49 PLN per month during the first year, with the price increasing to 59 PLN per month thereafter. Notably, the service does not require a long-term contract, allowing customers to cancel at any time.

General internet access in rural areas remains a challenge, with various technologies available including fiber, radio, mobile LTE/5G, and satellite options like Starlink. Each technology offers different trade-offs regarding speed, stability, and cost.
