Poland to build 100‑hectare Pacyna reservoir near Radom

Polish water authorities and the mayor of Radom have signed a letter of intent to develop a multifunctional reservoir at Pacyna, covering roughly 100 hectares. The project, slated to begin after the 30 June 2026 agreement, aims to provide both flood‑control and water‑retention functions, storing excess runoff and mitigating drought impacts in the Pacynka river basin. In addition to its protective role, the reservoir will feature beaches, walking and cycling paths, and facilities for water sports, creating a new regional recreation hub for residents of Radom and surrounding areas.

The investment, overseen by the Regional Water Management Board in Warsaw and funded partly by national water management funds, is expected to shift summer leisure patterns away from over‑crowded sites such as the Zegrze reservoir, while supporting local businesses in tourism, hospitality, and equipment rental.
