Poland to digitize business registration and adjust cash limits
Poland is implementing significant regulatory changes affecting how businesses are registered and how they conduct transactions. Starting November 1, 2026, municipal offices will no longer accept paper applications for starting a sole proprietorship. Applicants must instead use digital platforms such as biznes.gov.pl, the mObywatel app, or external services, utilizing a trusted profile or electronic signature. This move follows a trend where online submissions for the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG) rose from 4% in 2014 to 66% in 2024.
Additionally, a new legislative proposal submitted to the Sejm aims to adjust cash payment limits for businesses. To account for inflation and changing economic realities, the current 15,000 PLN limit for B2B cash transactions is proposed to increase to 25,000 PLN. This adjustment is intended to provide companies with greater flexibility in settlements and investments.
