Poland to end e-TOLL requirements for cars with trailers in 2026

New regulations in Poland will end the e-TOLL obligation for passenger cars with trailers starting September 21, 2026. Currently, the requirement to pay electronic tolls can be determined by the total permissible mass of the vehicle set. Under the new rules, vehicles with a permissible total mass not exceeding 3.5 tons, including a trailer, will no longer be subject to e-TOLL on roads covered by electronic collection.

Vehicle data for those no longer subject to the obligation will be removed from the e-TOLL register. Users with funds in accounts used exclusively for these vehicle sets can apply for a refund of unused prepaid amounts or security deposits for periodic payments. Applications for refunds must be submitted within six months of the new regulations taking effect. Failure to submit a request within this period will result in the loss of funds, which will then be transferred to the National Road Fund (Krajowy Fundusz Drogowy).
