The 2026/2027 school year has commenced in Poland, marked by significant structural and regulatory changes. A major component of this year is the implementation of the ‘Reforma26. Kompas Jutra’ program, which introduces a new general education curriculum. This reform is being rolled out gradually, starting with first and fourth-grade students in primary schools.

Key changes include a ban on the use of smartphones and similar personal electronic devices during lessons, breaks, and other school activities in primary schools and kindergartens. Exceptions are permitted for students with health needs, such as glucose monitors, provided parents submit a written request to the school administration. Additionally, health education has become a mandatory subject, covering topics like digital hygiene, cyberbullying, and the impact of screen time on health.

Across various regions, schools are reporting diverse start-of-year conditions. Some institutions, such as those in Skoczów and Wałbrzych, are reopening following extensive renovations. Meanwhile, local authorities in Suwałki noted a decrease in student numbers, though the demand for specialized and integrative education has led to a rise in teaching staff. The new academic year is scheduled to run until June 25, 2027.
