Poland to introduce mandatory withdrawal button for online shopping

The Polish Ministry of Finance is developing new regulations to simplify the process of withdrawing from online contracts. The proposed project, UC169, introduces a dedicated “withdraw from contract here” button that must be clearly visible on websites or in mobile applications.

Instead of searching for forms or writing emails, customers will be able to initiate a return by filling out a short, standardized form within the order panel. To prevent accidental cancellations, the process will require a two-step confirmation. Once submitted, the consumer will receive an automatic confirmation including the exact date and time of the withdrawal.

These changes aim to align Polish law with European Union regulations. The rules will apply to various online transactions, including electronics and clothing. Notably, for voluntary individual pension products purchased online, the withdrawal period will be extended to 30 days, compared to the standard 14-day period for most other distance contracts.
