Poland to issue SMS alerts during fighter jet scrambles

Poland's Deputy Minister of National Defense, Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, has announced that citizens will receive RCB SMS alerts whenever the military scrambles fighter jets due to threats originating from Ukraine. This new procedure aims to supplement existing communications from the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.

The decision follows an incident on the night of July 29-30, when a Russian Ch-101 missile entered Polish airspace during an attack on western Ukraine. The military detected the unidentified object at 3:40 AM, but lost radar contact six minutes later. The missile landed in a field in Tarnawa-Kolonia, Lublin Voivodeship, though no casualties or material damage were reported.

The government is implementing this change to improve public safety and maintain trust by providing clear, direct information during periods of heightened military activity and hybrid pressure.
