Poland to reform vehicle technical inspections

Poland is preparing to implement significant changes to vehicle technical inspections to align with EU directives and improve road safety. A key component of the proposed reforms is the introduction of mandatory photographic documentation during inspections. This measure aims to prevent fraudulent practices, such as issuing inspection certificates without the vehicle actually being present at the station.

Under the new rules, diagnosticians will be required to photograph the vehicle and document the odometer reading to verify the vehicle's identity and presence. This is intended to end the practice of issuing inspections remotely via mobile devices.

Regarding vehicle modifications, current regulations dictate that tuning is permitted as long as it does not alter parameters listed in the vehicle registration document, compromise safety, or violate specific technical standards. While aesthetic changes like new upholstery or homologated steering wheels are generally acceptable, modifications such as removing particulate filters, cutting springs, or using non-compliant window tints are strictly prohibited and will result in failed inspections.
