Poland to Require First‑Aid Kits in New Cars Starting 2027

Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure is preparing an amendment to the vehicle technical regulations that will make a first‑aid kit mandatory in every newly registered passenger car. The requirement applies only to cars that receive their first registration after 31 March 2027, effectively from 1 April 2027, and is not retroactive to existing vehicles.

The kit must comply with DIN 13164 standards and contain items such as dressings, bandages, protective gloves and a resuscitation mask, but no medicines. The ministry expects about 650 000 new cars each year to be affected. The move aligns Poland with many EU member states that already impose a similar obligation on road vehicles.

The same legislative package also proposes to ban the use of historic vehicles that mimic modern emergency‑service markings, and to limit electric scooter speeds to 20 km/h, but the primary focus remains on improving roadside safety through mandatory first‑aid equipment.
