Poland to Require First‑Aid Kits in New Cars Starting 2027

Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure has drafted a regulation that will make a first‑aid kit mandatory in passenger cars registered for the first time after 31 March 2027. The rule will affect roughly 650,000 newly registered vehicles each year and adds the kit to the existing mandatory fire extinguisher and warning triangle.

The regulation does not impose retroactive obligations on existing cars. It also leaves the kit contents undefined, recommending compliance with the European DIN 13164 standard that specifies bandages, gloves, scissors, a thermal blanket and an instruction leaflet. The measure aims to improve road‑safety outcomes by ensuring basic medical supplies are available at accident scenes before emergency services arrive.
