Polish ministry mandates first‑aid kits in new cars from 2027
The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure has drafted a regulation that will make a first‑aid kit compulsory in passenger cars registered for the first time after 31 March 2027. The rule will affect roughly 650 000 newly registered vehicles each year and is estimated to cost owners about 75 zł per kit. Currently, kits are required only for taxis, buses, driving‑school cars and certain heavy passenger vehicles.
The amendment also includes other road‑safety measures: historic vehicles that mimic modern police cars will no longer be allowed to operate on public roads, and electric scooters and personal transport devices produced after the same date must be built so they cannot exceed 20 km/h. Existing equipment rules remain unchanged – a warning triangle and a fire extinguisher continue to be mandatory, with a 500 zł fine for non‑compliance.
The ministry argues that expanding first‑aid availability will improve road safety without imposing retroactive costs on the existing fleet.
