Poland to Require First‑Aid Kits in New Passenger Cars Starting 2027

Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure has drafted a regulation that will make a first‑aid kit mandatory equipment for passenger cars first registered after 31 March 2027 (effective from 1 April 2027). Existing vehicles are exempt, and the rule does not apply to tractors, trailers or other agricultural machines. The regulation does not specify the exact contents of the kit, but references the DIN 13164 standard, which includes bandages, dressings, protective gloves and other basic supplies, but no medicines. Non‑compliance can be punished with fines of up to 3,000 zł.

The change aligns Poland with many other EU member states that already require such kits in cars, while it remains one of the few that did not previously have the requirement. The measure is also expected to affect farmers who use passenger cars for agricultural duties, as those new cars will need to carry a kit under the new rule.
