The Ministry of Digitisation has warned that all users of the mObywatel and mObywatel Junior apps must log in by 5 August 2026. Logging in triggers an automatic update of the digital certificates that protect documents such as the electronic ID (mDowód) and the temporary‑protection document. About 12 million Poles use the service, and failure to log in will render those documents invalid, requiring re‑authentication via the Trusted Profile, e‑ID or online banking.

Students holding a digital student ID will also need to obtain a new QR code from their university dean’s office and re‑add the document to the app. The Central IT Center has announced scheduled technical maintenance on 8–9 August 2026, which may cause temporary outages. The ministry advises users to act now to avoid extra paperwork and loss of access to their digital documents.
