Poland and Czech towns launch free cancer screening buses

In July 2026 a mobile mammography unit will visit Suwałki, offering free breast‑cancer screening to women aged 45–74. The service, run by Geneva Trust Poland on behalf of the National Health Fund, requires no referral and takes about five minutes per exam. Organisers stress that early detection can cut mortality by 25‑30 %.

At the same time, residents of the Wolbrom municipality in Olkusz County can undergo free low‑dose CT scans for lung‑cancer detection. The program targets people aged 50–74 who are current or former smokers with a 20‑pack‑year history or who have other risk factors such as asbestos exposure.

In the Czech Republic, women can now access breast‑cancer screening directly, without a doctor's referral, further simplifying preventive care. All programmes emphasize early diagnosis to improve treatment outcomes and provide simple registration via phone or online portals.
