Polish security agencies have been placed on high alert following reports of a potential assassination plot targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. An emergency meeting was convened at the Internal Security Agency (ABW) counter-terrorism center to coordinate a response involving the national police and the State Protection Service.

This security alert follows a recent wave of violent incidents in Polish schools, including a fatal attack on a school employee and several other incidents involving injuries to students and staff. Prime Minister Tusk has characterized these school attacks as spontaneous acts of violence often fueled by nihilism and online content rather than organized groups. In response to the school violence, police have detained 117 individuals for threats or illegal weapon possession and have conducted checks in approximately 65,000 educational facilities.

Authorities are treating the threat against top officials with extreme seriousness. This comes after previous arrests of eight individuals suspected of conducting reconnaissance on military and critical infrastructure for sabotage operations.
