Poland: Two men fined for operating electric scooters under the influence

Police in Poland have reported two separate incidents involving individuals operating electric scooters while intoxicated.

In Dąbrowa Górnicza, a 43-year-old man collided with a parked Lexus while riding an electric scooter. A breathalyzer test revealed he had 3 per mille of alcohol in his system. He was issued a fine of 4,500 PLN for the collision and driving under the influence.

In Ciechocinek, a 50-year-old resident was stopped during a routine patrol. Testing confirmed he had 1.4 per mille of alcohol in his blood. Due to the level of intoxication, he faces a fine of up to 2,500 PLN.

Authorities are reminding the public that electric scooter users are considered road participants and must adhere to all traffic laws, noting that alcohol significantly impairs reaction times and concentration.
