Poland unveils 500 mln zł space fund, plans Katowice centre

Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański announced at a conference in Katowice that the government will create a 500‑million‑zloty fund to invest in Polish space‑industry companies. The fund will be administered by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and will provide financing to local governments for up to 50 years on very attractive repayment terms, enabling projects such as technology centres, laboratories, industrial parks and data infrastructure.

A dedicated Centre for Space Technology is planned on the site of the former Wujek mine in Katowice. A feasibility study will be prepared before a work schedule is set, and a special purpose vehicle will be established to manage the project. European Space Agency Director Joseph Aschbacher highlighted Poland’s leadership in both space and defence sectors, underscoring the strategic importance of the initiative.
