Poland updates Polish language certification for students abroad
New regulations in the Polish higher education system allow students who completed their high school education abroad to obtain a B2-level Polish language certificate without taking additional exams. This change, effective as of June 9, applies to graduates of schools operating outside of Poland who have obtained a maturity certificate with a passing grade in the Polish language exam.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has informed university rectors of these changes, noting that while universities maintain autonomy in recruitment, the new laws regarding the Polish language and the National Agency for Academic Exchange are in effect. To obtain the certificate, applicants can submit an online request through the National Agency for Academic Exchange platform.
Due to potential delays in issuing certificates by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language, universities may exercise their legal right to grant conditional admission to candidates of Polish descent, requiring the certificate to be provided at a later date.
