Poland updates ZUS and KRUS social benefit eligibility and requirements

Poland is implementing changes to social benefit eligibility and distribution through ZUS and KRUS. Under the KRUS agricultural insurance system, holding insurance is sufficient to be considered full-time employment, facilitating access to benefits of up to 1,500 PLN monthly. In contrast, the ZUS system requires specific contribution thresholds. For 2026, combined parental contributions must reach 100% of the minimum wage, with each parent individually contributing at least 50%.

Additionally, the support benefit program is expanding. Starting in 2026, individuals with a support need score of 70 to 77 points will become eligible for monthly payments of approximately 792 PLN or 1,188 PLN, depending on their specific score. To receive these funds, applicants must first obtain a final decision from a provincial team before submitting an electronic application to ZUS; failing to follow this sequence may result in the application being rejected.
