Poland volleyball team faces generational gap at setter position

Marcin Komenda has emerged as the primary setter for the Polish national volleyball team following the retirement of Marcin Janusz. Despite a strong performance during the recent European Championships, Komenda was not named the tournament's best setter, a decision that went to France's Antoine Brizard.

Nikola Grbić's coaching staff has expressed concerns regarding the long-term future of the position. Assistant coach Marcin Nowakowski noted a significant generational gap, stating that while current players are performing at a high level, there is a lack of visible successors to Komenda and Jan Firlej. This issue is compounded by a domestic environment where club presidents are often hesitant to give playing time to younger, less experienced setters.
