Poland waste management: recycling issues in Walim and legal disputes in Witkowo

In Gmina Walim, local authorities and WPO ALBA S. A. have launched an initiative to address improper waste segregation. An inspection of a mixed waste container revealed that 100 percent of its contents were mixed, with plastics—which should be in yellow bins—comprising 75 percent of the volume. Mayor Adam Hausman warned that failure to meet recycling targets could lead to increased municipal fees and penalties.

In Witkowo, the Local Government Appeal Body (SKO) in Szczecin has overturned a decision regarding the location of a Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point (PSZOK). Although the facility is already built and operational, the SKO has ordered the Stargard Commune to reconsider the investment's location. The decision follows protests from residents concerned about noise, increased traffic, and proximity to housing.
