Balkan Peninsula faces sharp temperature drop and potential snow
A significant cold front is sweeping across the Balkan Peninsula and Eastern Europe, bringing a sharp decline in temperatures. Meteorologists report that daytime temperatures in affected areas could drop by 10 to 15 degrees Celsius compared to recent seasonal averages.
The cold air mass, described as having polar origins, is expected to impact Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, and Bulgaria most intensely. By mid-week, the front is projected to expand toward Greece, the Aegean Sea, the Black Sea, and Turkey.
In addition to the temperature drop, the weather shift includes increased cloudiness, wind, and local precipitation. On higher mountain elevations, such as the Carpathians and parts of the northern Balkans, the first significant snowfall of the season is possible. In lower regions, the primary changes will be cooler mornings and potential frost.
