Poland weather alerts: Heatwaves and severe storms hit multiple regions

Simultaneously, severe weather alerts have been issued for the southern parts of the Dolnośląskie and Opolskie voivodeships. These alerts warn of heavy rain, potentially reaching 25 to 40 mm, accompanied by thunderstorms, possible hail, and wind gusts of up to 70 km/h.
The extreme heat has already had significant impacts on agriculture. Farmers in regions like Opolszczyzna report crop losses of up to 50 percent due to unprecedented temperatures, including the first recorded instance of 40 degrees Celsius in Poland. Experts note that current monitoring systems must evolve to better account for both hydrological drought and extreme heat, which can be lethal to crops.
