Poland weather: Extreme temperature shifts and incoming snow

Poland is experiencing significant meteorological volatility. A warm air mass, associated with cyclone Ulf, is bringing unseasonably high temperatures to the south, with some regions potentially reaching 24 degrees Celsius. This warmth is accompanied by strong winds, with gusts in the mountains reaching up to 90 km/h.

However, a cold front is expected to follow this heatwave, bringing a sharp decline in temperatures and the arrival of winter-like conditions. Forecasters predict heavy precipitation, including rain and snow, particularly in the Sudetes, Tatras, and southern highlands. Some models suggest snow accumulations of up to 20–30 cm in mountainous areas and 5–10 cm on southern lowlands.

Long-term outlooks for the 2026/2027 season suggest a relatively mild start in November and December, with temperatures above the 1991–2020 averages. A more significant shift toward typical winter conditions, including increased precipitation and freezing temperatures, is anticipated for January 2027.
