Poland weather warning: Dense fog to impact nine provinces
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued first-degree weather warnings for dense fog across much of Poland. The phenomenon is expected to impact nine provinces, including Pomeranian, West Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, Lubusz, Greater Poland, Mazovian, Podlaskie, and Lower Silesian regions.
Visibility is forecasted to drop below 200 meters in many areas, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and pedestrians. The warnings are set to take effect from Saturday night through Sunday morning, specifically lasting until approximately 10:00 AM on Sunday. In the Greater Poland region, the fog is expected to affect 29 counties and major cities such as Poznań, Kalisz, Konin, and Leszno.
Meteorologists note that the weather pattern is driven by polar air moving into the country under high pressure, with localized low-pressure troughs affecting the north and northwest. In addition to the fog, local rain is expected in northern areas, with temperatures ranging between -1°C and 12°C.
