Poland wins 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities

Poland has won the 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities in Samarkand, finishing the tournament undefeated with 13 match points. The Polish team secured the gold medal after a 3½–½ victory over the Philippines in the final round.

Cuba earned the silver medal with 12 match points following a win against the Czech Republic, while the host nation, Uzbekistan 1, took the bronze with 11 match points. The tournament featured a record 41 participating teams.

This edition marked the first time the Olympiad for People with Disabilities was held alongside the main FIDE Chess Olympiad. The event also saw a delegation from Abu Dhabi visit the venue to observe organizational and accessibility arrangements in preparation for the 2028 Chess Olympiad and the 4th FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities, which will be hosted in the United Arab Emirates.
