Poland women's volleyball team loses European Championship semifinal to Italy

The Poland women's national volleyball team reached the semifinals of the European Championship for the first time since 2019, marking a significant milestone for the squad led by coach Stefano Lavarini.

In their semifinal match held in Istanbul, Poland faced Italy and lost with a score of 1-3. Following the match, coach Lavarini addressed his frustration during the game, explaining that he threw a water bottle during the fourth set due to the intense pressure and the failure of tactical solutions to overcome the Italian team.

Lavarini noted that the Italian side operated at a higher level, excelling in blocking, serving, and attacking. Despite the loss, the tournament highlighted the impact of Poland's substitutes, such as Martyna Czyrniańska and Julia Szczurowska, who played crucial roles in earlier rounds against teams like the Netherlands and Turkey.
