Poland's July 26, 2026 Remains a Non‑Trading Sunday Under Current Law

In Poland, July 26 2026 is classified as a non‑trading Sunday. The 2018 law limiting retail activity on Sundays and public holidays keeps most supermarkets, hypermarkets and shopping‑centre outlets closed on that date. Only establishments covered by statutory exceptions may operate, such as fuel stations, pharmacies, post offices, small owner‑run stores, kiosks at train and airport terminals, bakeries, confectioneries and hospitality venues.

July is not among the designated trading Sundays for 2026. The permitted Sundays that year are 25 January, 29 March, 26 April, 28 June, 30 August and 6, 13, 20 December. Consequently, the next opportunity for a regular Sunday shopping trip will be on 30 August 2026. A recent SW Research poll cited by WPROST shows public opinion split on the ban: 43.9 % favor lifting the restriction, 41.3 % oppose it, and 14.8 % are undecided.
