Poland's Active Village program faces funding and contract delays

Approximately 200 beneficiaries of the ‘Aktywna wieś’ (Active Village) program are still waiting to sign contracts and receive allocated funds. The program, managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MRiRW), is designed to support local initiatives related to rural culture, tradition, local product promotion, ecology, and resident safety.

Following nearly 5,000 applications, roughly 1,400 projects were selected for a total of 15 million PLN in support. However, delays in contract signing and poor communication have led to formal inquiries from MP Michał Kowalski. Concerns have been raised that beneficiaries might be forced to fund projects using their own resources, risking financial liquidity.

In response, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jacek Czerniak stated that contracts are being signed successively, noting that the process requires thorough verification of documentation.
