Poland’s Baltic Power offshore wind farm delivers first electricity to grid

Poland’s Baltic Power offshore wind farm has achieved its “First Power” milestone, delivering electricity to the national grid via the 400 kV Choczewo sub‑station. This is the first Polish transmission node built specifically for offshore wind power.

The project now has 54 of the planned 76 turbines installed, with about 350 km of internal and export cables laid, two offshore substations completed and land‑based infrastructure finished. Construction is over 80 % complete and the farm is slated for full commissioning by autumn 2026.

When complete, the 1.2 GW installation will generate roughly 4 TWh of electricity per year – enough for more than 1.5 million households and roughly 3 % of Poland’s current electricity consumption. Each turbine is rated at 15 MW, making Baltic Power one of the largest offshore wind projects in the country.
