Poland's CBA investigates electric bus procurement scandal in Myszków County

Polish Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) agents detained three individuals and secured documents in an investigation into irregularities surrounding the procurement of electric buses for Myszków County. Prosecutors suspect that a county official responsible for receiving the buses failed to perform duties, and that the vehicles did not meet declared quality and performance standards.

The probe, overseen by the Poznań District Prosecutor's Office, uncovered alleged attempts to influence tender outcomes in favor of a specific bus manufacturer. Evidence suggests personal benefits were offered to the manufacturer’s president in exchange for a sponsorship contract with a sports club. CBA units from Białystok, Łódź and Katowice participated in the operation, seizing material at the sports club in Łowicz and at the Myszków County Office.

Investigators also identified agreements between the manufacturer and local authorities between 2022 and 2024 that aimed to steer tender results toward preferred offers, violating procurement rules and public‑sector duties.
