Poland's Constitutional Tribunal President reports judge to disciplinary officer

Bogdan Święczkowski, President of the Constitutional Tribunal in Poland, has notified the disciplinary ombudsman regarding the actions of Judge Magdalena Bentkowska. According to a statement from the Tribunal, Bentkowska allegedly ignored internal procedures and disciplinary regulations on October 22 by granting Krystian Markiewicz access to the judicial section of the building.

This incident occurs amid ongoing tensions within the institution. The Tribunal previously issued a communication to the Chief Commander of the Police, demanding legal justification for officers attempting to identify and verify the identities of judges and staff near the Tribunal's headquarters. Święczkowski stated that such actions must not be arbitrary or exert unjustified pressure on those performing duties for a constitutional body.

The internal conflict also involves Maciej Berek, another nominee who was previously blocked from entering the judicial section. Berek has accused Święczkowski of violating his physical integrity and has referred the matter to the prosecutor's office, following reports of a physical altercation during an attempt to enter the restricted area.
