Poland's CPK begins competitive dialogue for Baranów Airport railway tunnel and station

The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), operated by Port Polska, has opened a competitive dialogue to select a contractor for the tunnel and railway station that will be built beneath the new Baranów Airport. The project envisions a rail hub three times larger in volume than Warsaw Central Station, aimed at serving tens of thousands of daily passengers and providing seamless intermodal connections.

Fourteen firms have passed the formal verification stage, forming eleven consortiums that include leaders such as Mirbud S.A., Mostostal Warszawa S.A., PORR S.A., and Strabag sp. z o.o. CPK expects the dialogue to conclude with a contract award in the first quarter of 2027, with construction of the tunnel and station slated to commence in the third or fourth quarter of the same year. Filip Czernicki, president of the CPK board, emphasized the project's scale and its role in creating a sustainable, integrated transport hub.
