Poland's emergency services mark milestones: 25‑year fire brigade anniversary and 501 new police officers

The Rescue‑Fire Unit No. 6 in Kraków celebrated its 25th anniversary, commemorating two decades of the Specialist Chemical‑Ecological Rescue Group “Kraków 6”. The ceremony at the unit’s Aleksandry Street base gathered city officials, senior fire commander Michał Polak, mayor’s secretary Antoni Fryczek, and other local representatives, who praised the unit’s development since its 2001 founding and its role in regional safety.

On 24 June 2026 the Police Academy in Szczytno promoted 501 officers to the first rank of the junior officer corps—367 men and 134 women. The event featured an oath, speeches by senior police leaders and Vice‑Minister Wiesław Szczepański, who warned that “today we face cyber‑crime, attacks on critical infrastructure and hybrid threats,” and concluded with a parade of the new officers.
