Poland’s Food Exports Top €24 billion, Record Surplus Achieved

Polish agro‑food exports reached a record €24.1 billion in the January–May 2026 period, marking a 1.6 % year‑on‑year increase. Export value to markets outside the European Union rose to €6.3 billion, accounting for 26 % of total food export volume. The biggest growths were recorded in the Philippines (+80 %), South Africa (+79 %), and Nigeria (+78 %). Turkey (+61 %), Egypt (+50 %), China (+18 %) and South Korea (+17 %) also posted strong gains.

Within the export basket, fruit processing led the growth chart with a 21.9 % increase in value, followed by alcoholic drinks (+10.6 %), cereals (+7.6 %), meat products (+6.1 %) and poultry meat (+5.3 %). Meat and meat‑products remain the largest share of total food export revenue at 22 % (€5.2 billion), with cereals, tobacco, confectionery, dairy and fish products also contributing sizeable portions.

The traditional EU market still dominates, providing 74 % of export value (€17.8 billion). Germany remains the top EU buyer at €5.8 billion, followed by France, the Netherlands, Italy and the Czech Republic. Overall, the surge in non‑EU demand and the broadening of product categories have propelled Poland’s agro‑food sector to a historic trade surplus.
