Polish authorities issue extensive summer safety guidelines for vacations
Police and rescue services across Poland have launched a series of campaigns to promote safe behaviour during the 2026 holiday season. The Kutno police brigade warned residents to use guarded swimming areas, wear life‑jackets, avoid unsupervised water activities and keep valuables out of sight. In the Silesian region, officers announced the "Bezpieczne Wakacje 2026" operation, urging drivers to inspect vehicle condition, secure homes before travel and reminding that bus‑and coach checks for children’s trips will be intensified. The National Road Authority (GDDKiA) advised motorists to prepare for extreme temperatures, stay hydrated, avoid driving in direct sun, and take regular breaks, noting that interior car temperatures can reach 70 °C. Health experts highlighted the risks of UV exposure, stressing the use of certified sunglasses with UVA/UVB protection and the importance of sunscreen, shade and adequate water intake, especially for children, seniors and pets. School‑based sessions organised by the Water Rescue Service (WOPR) taught pupils the correct conduct near water, the necessity of helmets and reflective gear for cyclists and the proper way to call emergency services. Together these measures aim to reduce heat‑related illnesses, traffic accidents and water‑related incidents throughout the summer vacation period.
