Poland's Gołębiewski hotel opens in Pobierowo, the Baltic Sea's largest resort

The 13‑floor Gołębiewski hotel in the seaside village of Pobierowo, Poland, opened on 10 June, two weeks ahead of its planned 26 June launch. The five‑star complex offers 1,240 rooms, a 104‑metre outdoor pool, the Tropikana water park, indoor pools, a spa with treatment rooms, a salt and ice cave, a cinema, bowling alley, nightclub, supermarket and sports courts. Only about 500 rooms are ready for guests, with nightly rates ranging from €350 to €900.

Construction began in 2018 on a former military site and took eight years, delayed by permits, the pandemic and disputes. Founder Tadeusz Gołębiewski died in 2022; hotel director Barbara Garczyńska said the project aims to give visitors a "Dubai‑like" luxury experience on the Polish Baltic coast. Over 2,000 bookings were made in the first 24 hours of reservations. German media dubbed the development "Little Dubai" and likened it to the historic Prora complex, sparking mixed reactions in the region.
