Poland's KRRiT approves 86 broadcast licences and launches seven new local radio frequency contests

In the first half of 2026 the Polish National Council for Radio and Television (KRRiT) issued 86 concession decisions covering both radio and television. The rulings included 16 new radio licences, eight extensions, four expansions to new transmitters, and 11 new cable‑television licences. Major beneficiaries were MWE Horizon Sp. z o.o., which received eight TV channel licences, and several local stations such as Radio Calisia, Radio Zawiercie, Bounce, Dewuradio and RMF24. Additional decisions involved programme changes for existing services like Radio ZET and Radio Maryja.

KRRiT also earmarked seven terrestrial frequencies for upcoming local‑radio concession contests in Bogatynia, Lubań Śląski, Bircz, Gniezno, Gryfice, Łobez (Toporzyk) and Zielona Góra. The frequencies range from 89.7 MHz to 104.8 MHz with power levels up to 20 kW, the strongest being allocated to Zielona Góra. Winners of these contests will be required to broadcast programmes of a universal character with a strong local focus, extending the reach of both existing and prospective community broadcasters.
